When excusing absences, please include your students full name, date(s), of absence(s), your name and relationship to the student. Please remember that only legal guardian may clear absences. Please use one of the following methods to clear absences:
- Enter the Absence using the Absence Report Google Form located on the UHS website home page under the About tab. When using this method of reporting, you must use an email address that is registered on the students Aeries account
- Submit a handwritten note including parent or legal guardian's signature and contact number to the Attendance Office. Submit and email to uhsattendance@upland.k12.ca.us
- Leave a detailed message on our attendance hotline (909) 981-2830

Perfect Attendance is defined as no period or full day absences for a school year
You can review your child's attendance through the Aeries Parent Portal
Early Release / Dismissal
Early dismissal/release from school can be obtained and excused with only a Temporary Off-Campus Permit:
In-person dismissal
- A parent/guardian visit with a valid photo ID at the Attendance office to sign the dismissal. Please leave extra time for this process
- Phone calls, voicemails, emails and our Website Absence Google Forms will not be accepted for early release/dismissal.
- Please note the Attendance Office does not interrupt classroom 10 minutes at the beginning or end of the of the period.
DISMISSAL WITH NOTE
- When taking your student out early, the most preferred procedure, whenever possible, is to simply provide your student with a note. Please include:
- Your student's full name
- The current date
- Desired release time
- Reason for taking your student out early
- Your signature (legal guardian only please).
- If your child is leaving early for an appointment, please indicate the nature of the appointment (medical or personal) so that we may code the absence accordingly.
- Your child can bring the note to the attendance office at any time before the release time to submit your note and receive an off-campus pass. This way they may exit the campus at the time you requested, and you will not have to come to the attendance window to sign them out.
Off Campus Permit
OFF-CAMPUS DURING SCHOOL DAY
Students are not allowed to leave during the regular school day without permission from the Attendance Office. If a student needs to leave campus during the school day, a parent/guardian must visit the Attendance Office to request a release before the student leaves campus. No phone calls will be accepted. Students must obtain an Off-Campus Permit before leaving campus. It is recommended that medical/dental appointments be made after school. The Attendance Office will not clear students who leave campus without first obtaining an off-campus pass from the Attendance Office. Discipline for leaving campus without following the appropriate procedures includes detention, Saturday School, and a Discipline Director conference.
Off-Campus Lunch Permit - Seniors are allowed to leave campus for lunch if they apply for and are granted an Off Campus Pass. Applications are available in the Student Store. If a senior leaves campus and does not return from lunch, they are truant. The Off Campus Pass is subject to immediate cancellation if the holder violates any school rules or municipal or state laws.
