About UHS
Formerly an agricultural community, Upland is a suburb and commuter community of greater Los Angeles located in western San Bernardino County with a population of over 77,017. The high school serves residents within the city limits as well as unincorporated residential areas adjoining the city. The majority of residents are employed in service and professional occupations. Businesses within the city are retail, service, light industry, and professional firms.
Upland High School is among the largest high schools along the Foothill Corridor, and is the only comprehensive high school in the Upland Unified School District. Upland High School earned a 6-year WASC accreditation in 2020. Currently there are 772 students in the class of 2023, 765 junior students, 789 sophomores, and 799 freshmen . Approximately 81% of the students will enroll in a college, university, or technical program upon graduation. The school population of 3,125 is 20% Caucasian, 60% Hispanic, 8% African American, 5% Asian and 7% other, with 56.2% overall socio-economically disadvantaged.
Among last year’s graduates were students who enrolled at Arizona State University, Azusa Pacific University, Brigham Young University, California Baptist University, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, California State University Fullerton, Long Beach, San Bernardino, and San Diego, Chaffey College, Citrus College, New York University, Occidental College, Pomona College, Stanford University, United States Air Force-Army-Navy, University of California Berkeley, Davis, Los Angeles, and
Riverside, University of La Verne, Washington State, Yale University, and others.
