Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
At Upland High School, we implement PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) to promote a safe and supportive learning environment. Our guiding principle is simple: “Respect yourself and others, take Responsibility for your learning, and conduct yourself with Integrity!” Throughout our campus, posters display clear examples of behavior expectations (RRI) in different areas of the school, and staff are always excited and willing to help our students master these core principles.
According to the Center on Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. When implemented with fidelity, PBIS improves social emotional competence, academic success, and school climate. It also improves teacher health and wellbeing. It is a way to create positive, predictable, equitable, and safe learning environments where everyone thrives.
Administrators and staff are excited to share that in 2025, Upland High School achieved Silver recognition! To achieve this success, the school was required to demonstrate a high level of fidelity and effectiveness across all three tiers of the PBIS framework: universal (Tier 1), targeted (Tier 2), and individualized (Tier 3) supports.
