What is Esports?
Esports is competitive gaming in the modern era. Short for electronic sports, it refers to competitive video gaming where individuals or teams compete against each other in various video games. These competitions can range from casual, community-driven events to highly organized, professional tournaments with substantial prize pools. Esports has gained significant popularity worldwide, with a growing fan base and professional players who compete at a high level. Games played in esports cover a wide range of genres, including first-person shooters, real-time strategy, multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA), sports simulations, and more. Major esports events attract large audiences both online and offline, with viewership often surpassing that of traditional sports. The esports industry has also seen the development of dedicated esports organizations, coaches, analysts, and broadcasters, contributing to the overall growth and professionalization of the competitive gaming scene.
